About Tippecanoe River State Park: Tippecanoe River State Park is a 7,353:acre area along the Tippecanoe River that was occupied by the Potawatomi Tribe. French came to the area for trade. English settlers came for farming. The U.S. Parks Service acquired the land in the 1930s and then transferred it to Indiana in 1943. The park still maintains the 90:foot fire tower that offers visitors an outstanding view of the surrounding countryside. Activities include boating, camping, canoeing, cross:county skiing, fishing, hiking (23 miles), and horse riding. Role Overview: The Assistant Manager of Tippecanoe River State Park is responsible for effectively carrying out the vision and mission of the Department of Natural Resources by conducting themselves with professionalism, integrity, and ethical soundness in managing the Tippecanoe River State Park Property and its relationship with the surrounding community. Incumbent applies professional (park management, forestry, wildlife management, recreation, occupational safety, or applicable natural science) knowledge and techniques in planning, conducting, and evaluating Department of Natural Resources programs to manage and enhance recreation and/or wildlife resources at Tippecanoe River State Park. Incumbent is directly responsible for administrating the property safety program, volunteer program, inventory, and day:to:day work schedules and work assignments of 19 seasonal, 1 part:time, and 3 salaried employees. In addition, the incumbent works with the Property Manager to administer the propertys 4 campgrounds, rent:a:camp cabin facilities, picnic areas, trails, naturalist programs, numerous historic buildings, and resource management programs. Incumbent also serves as the Property Manager in their absence. Fulfilling these duties will ensure that Tippecanoe River State successfully serves its 170,000 guests annually and are good stewards of the historic buildings, natural resources, equipment, and facilities on the 2,785 acres comprising Indianas 11th State Park. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at47,320.00but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: :Responsible for overseeing daily operations of a small DNR property in the absence of and in coordination with the property manager.:Assistwith planning, coordinating, implementing, and directing the natural resource management, cultural/historic resource management, fish and wildlife management, fish culture, and/or forest management practices and procedures.:Assistwith the planning, coordinating, implementing, and directing public use activities on the property which may include: hunting, wildlife viewing, camping, hiking, swimming, boating, biking, off road vehicle driving, etc.:Assistin the development, implementation and tracking of a biennial budget and administrates operating, preventive maintenance and rehabilitation funds to facilitate operations under direction of the property manager.:Di
